manual comp

This is an early comp of the digital users manual for the Zone Of The Enders Hd Collection on Ps3 and Xbox 360. I wanted the user to feel as if they were navigating the menus of a ship or a giant fighting robot, which is what the game is about. I brought in elements of the in-game UI that you see when your character is actually piloting so that the manual would feel like it lives in the same world as the story of the game. In the end, the client went with a different direction, but I still really love and stand by my design.

Inspiration

Zone of The Enders was a game that really impressed me when it released on the PS2. I loved the feeling of being in a mech and having all that technology at your fingertips. That feeling is what I wanted to bring into the design. I envisioned about what that might look like in the ZOE world. I drew a lot of my inspiration form this.

Creating assets

I wanted all the on-screen elements to feel like they could be a part of the game's world. In my mind, this is being viewed on a terminal or computer screen somewhere by a character in the game.

Design Mockups

Both manuals have the same design in order to make it a consistent experience. The difference is in the color scheme, which pulls from the key art for each game.
